RONNIE WOOD WILL BE PLAYING AT LONDON BLUESFEST - 30th JUNE 2012
Ronnie Wood & Friends
Ronnie Wood first saw the Rolling Stones at the Richmond Jazz Festival back in 1964. As he was going inside, he saw a van open up and the five of them tumbled out of the back. “I knew I belonged in that band” he says, “I’ve always been a believer in fate. I counted on it happening… I just had to wait it out.”
By 1975 Mick Taylor wanted to leave the Rolling Stones and Mick Jagger and Keith Richards were looking for a replacement. Ronnie Wood flew to Munich to audition. He got the job and despite more recent jibes about their ages, thinks he and the Rolling Stones have only improved over the years.
As his musical career has progressed Ronnie Wood has continued his passion for painting and drawing. His subjects range from immediate colleagues in the rock and roll band, to other famous rock and roll musicians he has admired, known and has sometimes played with. Family, friends, animals and of course the self-portraits perhaps show a more private side.
For Bluesfest 2012, Ronnie has not only created some stunning art which is featured on the merchandise, but will be curating what promises to be a very special show at Hammersmith Apollo, celebrating the great Chess Records label. Ronnie will be bringing along some very special friends to roar out such classics as No Particular Place To Go, At Last, My Babe, Hoochie Coochie Man, I’d Rather Go Blind, I’m A Man, Smokestack Lighnin’, Forty Days and Forty Nights, Maybellene - miss this show at your peril!

Coming from a tremendously musical and artistic family, Ronnie’s early influences came from his father and his brothers.
But although he first trod the boards at the tender age of nine, his early career aspirations actually took him more towards art than towards music – studying formally at the Ealing College of Art.

2 days ago, Ron was invited by Paul McCartney on stage in London……………..

The Ben Waters Band (without Charlie) played the Bull’s Head Barnes on Monday 14 November. Just before the half-time break, Ronnie jumped on stage to join the band for “Worried Life Blues” and “Little Queenie”.

Ronnie’s gift…

Ronnie Wood has donated a signed guitar to help raise money for a partially-paralysed south Essex footballer, Billericay Town goalkeeper Nicky Morgan, 25. [more infos here : http://www.basildonrecorder.co.uk/news/billericay/9397057.Ronnie___s_guitar_gift_for_injured_Billericay_town_player_Nicky/ ]

Ronnie Wood is always rehearsing…

…for a Rolling Stone show!

He frequently makes time to play his instrument, just in case the group - who haven’t played live since 2007 or released a new album since 2005 - decide to work together again.

Describing a perfect Sunday, he said: ‘I try to keep my musical hand in, just in case the Stones do anything, so I’d probably have a tinkle on one of my acoustic guitars before making a very special Sunday roast.’

Keith said: ‘I don’t see why in the world the Stones can’t put together some kind of show next year. I’d almost count on it. It doesn’t have to be the whole spectacle bull—-t again, but we’ve got to find our own way through this.’

Mick added: ‘It is quite amazing when you think about it. Anything’s possible.’
